Apply for aid: Undocumented students

Your immigration status does not change our commitment to meeting 100% of your demonstrated financial need. All that changes are a few bits of the process.

Because undocumented students are ineligible for federal aid, you will apply for financial aid using a similar process to our international students, described below. Because you are likely ineligible for work and loans, your financial aid offer will likely only include institutional scholarships and/or grants that do not need to be repaid.

How to apply for aid

We use two documents to understand your financial situation and decide what kind of aid you’ll need to be able to attend MIT affordably. To submit these documents, follow these two simple steps. Click each step to jump to the detailed instructions on the international students application page.

  1. Submit the CSS Profile.
  2. Provide income documentation via IDOC. If your family does not file a tax return, you will need to submit a Non-Tax Filer Statement to IDOC instead.

We will take it from there! If we need other information from you, we will reach out directly.
