Apply for aid: Aid deadlines and requirements

Application deadlines

When your financial aid application is due depends on whether you are a prospective student applying to MIT for Early or Regular Action, or are a continuing MIT student.

  • Early Action applicants must submit their required documents by November 30 to receive a financial aid award by mid-January.
  • Regular Action applicants must submit their required documents by February 15 to receive a financial aid award by mid-March.
  • Continuing students must submit their required documents by April 15 to receive their awards for the subsequent term in late May or early June.

Required documents

There are three documents that we use to assess applications for need-based aid:

  1. All financial aid applicants must submit the CSS Profile
  2. All financial aid applicants must submit their parents’ tax returns
  3. All U.S. citizens and permanent residents must complete the FAFSA
