If you were an undergraduate student during the 2021–2022 academic year, or you were born after January 1, 1998, your parents’ income—rather than your own income—will likely be used to determine eligibility.
As a dependent, you’re eligible for the same amount of debt relief as everyone else, but your eligibility is based on one or both of your parents’ income. If you are unsure if you are considered a dependent, you should refer to this list.
